Job Title:  Customer/Field Service Technician/Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary area of responsibility is to support, build and extend a World Class service response effort to customers by providing superior technical support services for existing and future products. This individual must be strategic-minded and capable of assisting the Customer/Field Service Manager in developing an annual business plan to meet market needs. They must have the ability to work both onshore and offshore, domestically and internationally, and be able to meet the requirements of the customer in each location. The position requires a self-starter who is highly-motivated and they must be a goal and performance driven individual. They must have a demonstrated track record of results. The position reports to the Customer/Field Service Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and help develop a service offering for Permanent, Wireline and Artificial Lift Gauges and surface interface equipment.
  • Provide product training and demonstrations at various locations, including off-site, both domestically and internationally, to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales on product enhancements to better meet the customer's needs.
  • Conform with ISO requirements as required.
  • Support the standardization of all service locations on repairs, calibration, testing procedures, tooling and rental procedures.
  • Support operating the service department as a profit center.
  • Travel to customer locations worldwide and GRC Customer Service Centers as directed by Customer/Field Service and Sales Manager.
  • Support the organization of the department by maintaining a customer data base, job installation tracking, tool repair tracking / reliability, and keeping the customer abreast of technical information via the technical bulletin program regarding GRC products.
  • Support, maintain and organize a gauge rental program, domestically and worldwide.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in MET or EET with a minimum of 2 years oilfield service experience or combination of education and experience equivalent to 5 years of in-depth technical experience.
  • Associates degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technician with a minimum of 3 years oilfield service experience preferred or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 3 years of in-depth technical experience.
  • Past employment with a major upstream or midstream oilfield service company preferred.
  • International field experience a plus, as well as experience working on a drilling rig onshore and offshore.
  • Knowledge and experience installing and maintaining SCADA systems a plus.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical (hydraulic or pneumatic) components and electronic components.
  • Database management a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • AutoCAD and SolidEdge knowledge a plus, but not required.
  • Ability communicate with customers and train them in the use of GRC equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret, and write technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions for managers, clients, and customers both at the field and management level.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish at a technical level is a plus.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Requires near vision, read mechanical and electrical schematics, display terminals, LCD's, and identify color.
    Good hearing required.
  • Mobility to travel into field domestically and internationally to both land and offshore oil well locations to demonstrate products.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally to both land and offshore oil well locations to demonstrate products to customers and carry out installations of GRC products.
  • Moderate to Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and customers on phone and person-to-person.
  • Ability to read, analyze and comprehend technical procedures and written materials.
  • Ability to think analytically.

Environment Conditions:

Must be willing to work in any / all land and offshore oilfield locations worldwide. Outdoor conditions are sometimes wet, cold, or hot. Installations occur on oil well drilling and work over rigs. Frequently require you to stay on location in well site accommodations. These conditions can be very tight and would require sleeping on a twin sized bed.
