Job Title: Senior Electrical Manufacturing Engineer
Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Essential Functions:
- Identify, evaluate and resolve production and design problems on highly complex electrical and/or mechanical devices. Provide technical work direction and guidance as needed.
- Responsible for developing assembly methods to assist production.
- Responsible for transition from engineering release to build and test of prototypes and initial production of units for temperature and pressure gauges and surface readout equipment.
- Identify and develop machining, assembly and test procedures, processes and related documentation for new and existing products.
- Understand the electronics and mechanical designs of the gauges and how they operate in the field.
- Perform calibration and reliability tests of gauges.
- Support production leaders in training and documentation initiatives to facilitate product release to manufacturing.
- Implement statistical controls and data collection models in manufacturing.
- Assist engineering in building a product roadmap that drives product revenue.
- Must be able to see, to speak, to hear and to read English.
- Comply with, and ensure department compliance with, all government environmental and safety regulations and with company safety policies and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help evaluate and analyze the manufacturability of new and existing products, assemblies and components.
- Interface with engineering to facilitate efficient implementation of manufactured products. Work closely with sustaining engineering to understand and implement new hardware and software product releases. Act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure a smooth product transition to commercialization.
- Write documentation supporting production releases from engineering including work procedures and instructions, test procedures and assembly procedures for products.
- Create and provide comprehensive product training curriculum for production leaders and manufacturing employees.
- Devise, design and implement statistical controls and data collection models to capture required information to drive continuous improvement and cost control.
- Support and assist with implementation of lean manufacturing processes and procedures in all manufacturing / production areas.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the areas of quartz and gap capacitance transducer technologies and tooling techniques, taking the initiative to recommend and implement solutions for significant cost reductions and process improvements.
- Assist in the development of time standards and routings for both new and existing products.
- Develop and implement product flow diagrams, floor space layouts, work station configurations and material handling techniques.
- Actively participate in the development of qualified primary and secondary vendor sources for fabricated and purchased components.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, needed and required.
Education & /or Experience Requirements:
- BS in Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Electrical and mechanical software experience; Solid Edge and Protel a plus.
- Must be self-motivated and have strong analytical capabilities.
- Must be resourceful and have the ability to sustain a high level of performance over extended periods of time in a high-pressure environment.
- MS Office expertise is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Must have proven ability to plan required project tasks to hit critical target dates.
Other Credentials / Certifications / Experience / Special Requirements:
- Quartz transducer technology knowledge a plus.
- Ten years experience in a manufacturing / production environment is preferred.
- Must have a thorough understanding and practical experience with use and implementation of lean manufacturing processes.
- Should be analytical, problem-solving, detailed, personable and industrious.
- Should have superior verbal, written and listening skills.
- ISO procedure knowledge is a plus.
- Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing methods and problem-solving techniques related to a certified clean room or electronic assembly and test environment, depending on assignments.
- Must exhibit CAD and personal computer skills to support tooling and test equipment requirements.
- Must have the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with other people at all organizational levels.
- Experience in the oilfield industry is beneficial.
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
- Works closely with production / manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality control, supply chain / materials, safety and engineering.
- Work with other areas as required to accomplish job duties / tasks.
- Work with outside vendors / suppliers and customers, as needed.
Environmental Conditions:
- Combination of office and plant environment. Regular work environment is a climate controlled office environment on the production floor.
- Will be required to frequently visit and interact with various areas of production in the shop.
- Safety (steel-toed shoes / boots) will be required when in production areas.
- Safety glasses will be required when in production areas.
